The past is gone and the future is not here yet. We are in the moment. We are here.
We catch moments and we keep them fresh. But how can you catch the presence? How other than in your memory can you preserve it? We invented cameras, we take pictures. We invented Ziploc bags. We invented cling foil to keep things fresh. Will a picture keep what you experienced in that moment other than your own memory about what you felt in that moment? If it can not, then are you here enough to catch and keep the moment in your memory?
Apples and moments What happens when reality of the moment goes on but the picture of the moment keeps still? We can observe parallel worlds: the kept moment stays conserved while the real moment goes on.
If we take a picture of an apple, we catch the apple in that moment. If we put the real apple next to the picture, then the past moment is confronted with the present moment of the apple. We realize the apple has changed over time. Our picture does not show the moment any longer. We keep the apple fresh in a bag to longer match its picture of the past. But time went on. We keep the picture of the past in a bag to conserve the moment. But memories went on.
The apple does not care. It is just here.
The only way to catch the moment is to be here with the apple. Are we here with the apple? Are we here enough to catch and keep this moment of the apple?
Man in the dunes
We can catch a moment on a picture. A man walking in the dunes. The sand dunes will change. The man will have disappeared. They exist only in the here and now. When we watch the picture we share the snapshot of a moment of a man and the sand dunes.
The cup is filling
The moment is a cup filling with water. We can not stop the water flowing into this moment. We can not stop the time flowing. We can only watch it existing in the moment. Try to wrap the waterflow and it will stop.
The magic mirror Yes, what you see is you in there here and in the now! You are caught. How can you be kept?
